The Katrina Timeline project seeks to provide a detailed account of the events surrounding Hurricane Katrina, including:
- What the government (local, state, and federal) knew about the risks of a major hurricane striking Southeastern Louisiana,
- How policies adopted by the government addressed (or failed to address) the known risks,
- How the government prepared for hurricane disasters, and particularly for such disasters in the Gulf Coast area,
- The path and impact of Hurricane Katrina, and
- How the government executed responded to the pending disaster in the hours leading up to Katrina’s landfall,
- How the government responded to the devastation wrecked by Katrina.
The Katrina Timeline project will also profile the aftermath of the Hurricane Katrina disaster, including government, media, and citizen response, and the rebuilding of the impacted areas.
